rive
the state-machine animator
A .riv file is an asset contract. Its artboard, state machine, View Model, property, and event names are authored identifiers. Discover them from the asset or editor source before writing runtime code.
interactive by designdata bound, not hardcodedtiny runtime
Use when authoring or integrating a Rive .riv asset, Rive editor animation, View Model data binding, RML, Luau scripting, or an @rive-app runtime.
methodology
- classify the work: editor, RML and CLI, scripting, runtime integration, or animation craft.
- read the matching reference and the current official page for any runtime API or CLI flag.
- use View Model data binding for new work. keep inputs and runtime Rive events only when an existing asset already exposes them.
- verify RML with
rive <project> --verify, inspect it, and capture a representative state. then verify the result in its target runtime.
