Use when creating, maintaining, debugging, upgrading, testing, or releasing a Capacitor or Ionic app or plugin; working on iOS or Android bridges, native builds, deep links, push, app stores, Cordova migration, or Capgo and Capawesome services; or adapting a web framework and mobile styling for a hybrid app.
methodology
- Read the learned layer, then inspect the live project's
AGENTS.md, package manager,@capacitor/coreversion, target platforms, and native dependency manager. Use the project's installed versions and commands, not a guide's samplenpmcommand by default. - Select the narrowest guide. For a conceptual introduction, use capacitor-expert or ionic-expert; for a new app, use app creation; for an existing web app, use webapp-to-capacitor; for routine work, use app development; for a failure, use debugging-capacitor. Select an Ionic guide only when Ionic Framework is present. Plugin work uses plugin guides, not app guides.
- For upgrades, establish the installed and target versions first, then read the exact app or plugin major-version guide. Capacitor 8.4 to 8.5 iOS scene work uses the UIScene migrator. For release work, distinguish store submission, native builds, and web-bundle updates; use the service already chosen by the project.
- Read the selected guide and only the supporting references needed for the task. Verify changing platform, store, CLI, and third-party-service claims against current primary documentation before acting. Follow live project instructions and operator authority when a guide conflicts.
